brunch and wanderings

What better way to while away a Sunday than brunching with a lovely friend and meandering along the canal towpath.  Fact: there is almost no better way, so that's what we did.  We started with a delicious brunch at Caravan in Kings Cross before heading out for a wander in the beautiful weather.  I would have taken picutres of the food too - in fact I did - but if nothing else, the last week or so has taught me that I cannot take good pictures of food.  It doesn't look delicious when I've photographed it, no matter how sumptuous  the plate before me appears.  And I refuse to count photos I don't like in #500snapsofsummer.  You'll just have to take my work for it that jalpeno cornbread topped with black beans, tomatoes, chilies, fried eggs and chives was AMAZING. Yum!

My friends have already become very understanding about the photographs.  Liz says that she has now come to expect that I will tote my camera around with me wherever, and has had many years experience of having it poked at her.  So she was extremely excited to pose for photos for me and appear on the blog.  Although when I say she was excited, I suppose I really mean that I was excited and that Liz didn't completely refuse.  Hello Liz!

Once again, many kindly folk offered to take the picture for me so that I wouldn't have to leave the camera on the ground.  It's nice that people are so friendly, even if I am trying to take the picture like that on purpose. I love how you don't have to walk very far at all in London and you see a complete different side of it.  All this pictures are taken in close proximity to an enormous transport hub with the three mighty stations of Kings Cross, St Pancras and Euston all connecting London to the rest of the county and indeed to other countries via the Eurostar.  But the canal seems unaware of any of this and given that it is no longer and industrial highway, it's peaceful and pleasant to saunter along.

Ridiculous photo injury of the week: When I jumped off the lock to get this picture, I was looking at the camera and not where my feet would land.  I ended up smacking my feet together as I hit the ground and my ankles crunched together somewhat violently.  I discovered matching bruises on the inside of my ankles the following morning.  If it helps, I feel like a total numpty, but I do really like the picture.

Kisses xxx

P.S. That's another 11 pictures bringing the #500snapsofsummer total up to 125; 375 pictures left.

  1. Fab photos your colours are just great. Any chance of a post on your photo tips at the end of the 500 challenge?
