3rd December: Covent Garden Balloon Cloud

A little while back, Covent Garden was filled with balloons.  Pretty, round, white, cloudy balloons.  And it was lovely!  The man and I headed along to see them before they disappeared, presumably to fulfill some other cloudy purpose. And given that I don't often head out without my trusty camera, I got a few snaps.

The Covent Garden balloon cloud was one of those things where there's very little to narrate.  It was just pretty, and the pictures speak for themselves.  Plus my new wide-angle lens got to see a little action.  Where before it had experienced the important job of capturing wide expanses of Bolivian desert, now it was deployed as a selfie lens for me and the clouds.  Oh how are the mighty fallen.

I must make a conscious effort not to refer to it as a selfie lens.

As the year draws to a close, and it gets dark before you can say twinkle, it's nice to reflect back on sunny days out, and a few of the giggles we've had over the past year.

P.S. These balloons have now been replaced by enormous, glittery bunches of mistletoe.  So perhaps another visit is in order!

P.P.S. This post forms part of my blog series for Journal Your Christmas, a class run by Shimelle to encourage participants to record lovely festive memories through words, pictures and crafting.  And speaking of festive memories, tonight brings a visit to the cinema with the girls from the Ecuador gang, and we're going to glam up good and proper for Sing-Along Rocky Horror!

  8. A basic balloon arch created with properly inflated latex balloons can endure anywhere from 12 to 2 days without causing any problems. The lower number denotes a closer arch to a doorway where outside heat and humidity are often introduced.
