As Christmas appears on the horizon this year, it's nice to look back on some of the memories of last year and remember the lovely times that made the season special. I remember lots of lovely evenings spent out and about in the company of friends and family, but also enjoyed cosy evenings in with a bit of telly, a cuppa and a craft project. And possibly piles of food.
Some of the scrapbook pages I made were among my favourites of the whole year, and this was when I really started experimenting with the pocket page to get extra photos and journalling in my album. You can read about this 12x12 page here, and the matching pocket page here. And couple of other pages linked here, here and here.
Last year I enjoyed a tea advent calendar from Bluebird Tea Co and spent a lovely ten minutes before bed each evening enjoying a different blend of tea. I'm definitely looking forward to finding out what treats are in the advent calendar this year - obviously I went for the same one again!
One of my favourite craft projects last year was making Christmas crackers; they were such a simple project and so pretty that I might aim to make some more this year. Meanwhile, these ones are linked here.
Last winter, I visited a number of Christmas markets, including this beautiful one in Manchester (click here for the story). I loved taking photos of the lights with warmth spilling out into the street. And I loved the food too. This year I'm looking forward to exploring some more, and I'll be sharing photos and memories from a fantastic Christmas weekend in Cologne from last December.
I can't get enough of warming drinks at this time of year: mulled wine, boozey hot chocolate - or even normal hot chocolate with lashings of cinnamon - and perfect cups of tea that I can wrap my fingers round. Bring it on, December!
I also love seeing the decorations go up. London always looks beautiful in the run up to Christmas, and no amount of cold or drizzle can detract from the inviting warmth and bustle of a city getting ready for festivities. I hope to take my camera out and about again this year and find lovely details to capture.
Christmas wouldn't be complete without a knitting project and some mittens. I love wearing mittens; they're so much better than gloves. #teammittens It's also lovely to work with something woolly and toasty while crafting, which makes knitting a perfect seasonal passtime for those Chirstmas films that are such a vital part of the season! You can find the mitten post here.
These were just a few of my favourite pictures and projects from last year. I'm looking forward to making some new memories this year. Camera at the ready of course!

P.S. This post is part of a series I'm writing throughout December in response to Shimelle's scrapbooking class, Journal Your Christmas. By blogging each day, I hope to savour each and every lovely moment of the most wonderful time of the year, and have some great memories to look back on.
